LDW2014 at Chelsea Harbour Design Week was a relaxed and spongey affair. By spongey, I mean I soaked up as much as was humanly possible in a ‘I’m in the room 30% and in a creative dreamland 70%’ kind of way. The book shop is brimming with Interior Design books from many designers and covers pretty much every style imaginable. Chelsea harbour is a great place to go for inspiration. Luxury fabrics, wallpapers, tiles and carpets adorn the walls within the 3 domes. I spent hours soaking up the promise of a luxurious lifestyle and I walked away with lots of inspiration and a wish list of samples for my flat. Needless to say, I took a lot of photos. I will try and share…

Maximalism is unashamedly theatrical, a riot of wild and fearless creativity which arrives with a bang and leaves with an impression. It stands for the brave, flamboyant, eccentric and sometimes the grotesque, it has a language of its own and it makes no apology. Kelly Wearstler, Betsey Johnson, Johnathan Adler, Tony Duquette, Mary Katrantzous, Missoni, Anna Piaggi and Lady Gaga amongst others have all kept maximalism alive despite minimalism trying to stare its noisy cousin down into submission. The classic calm that black and white interiors exude whispers sophistication and order, a uniformity which is relaxing and soothing, whether you are going for a luxurious, boho, minimal or eclectic style. Far from being cold, pattern, texture and shape bring warmth and depth to the colour scheme. With such a minimal palette you can really experiment with objects which draw the eye in or create a simple luxurious environment for chilling out. Kitchens and bathrooms look particularly good in black and white and with the use of marble and black gloss can create very dramatic powerful interiors. Black and white dining brings Mr Sophistication to the table and I like to encourage good manners and gourmet meals. 1. Because I am stuck in…
I love house plants. Not just one or two but a few at a time baby, yeaaaah! I think it comes from my desire to live in a treehouse. I decided when I was 5 I would be a hermit and live in the forest. Picture me, wearing layers of big baggy clothes, hair wild and knotted with a muddy face. Most days I’m half way there. I have of course opted for the more mainstream approach by adorning window sills and various parts of the home with beautiful collections of plants. Succulent, tropical, big leaf varieties are my favourites. I would love a living wall, Anthropologie in Regent street have a fantastic one, it spans 3 floors! The options for plant displays are endless. Here are some great examples for bringing some of the outdoors in.
