Heals, has been promoting, selling and leading trends in furniture and product design for 200 years. The store has some exciting launches planned for this Autumn with its New Discovery range and has invited social enterprise ‘Out of the Dark’ http://www.outofthedark.org.uk/ which mentors and trains young people from challenging backgrounds to restore and make furniture from a factory in High Wycombe, steering them away from a life of crime.

20130708-202101.jpg Out of the Dark will be sourcing the 1950’s furniture, think G-Plan, Ercol and Parker Knoll, training the young people in the skills they need to update the furniture in modern colours and fabrics, to give them a revamp. I think you’ll agree they are doing a fantastic job! The wood tone set against the modern brights for this season look great.

20130708-202806.jpg The furniture will be exhibited and on sale in store and online at Heals Discovers, Tottenham Court Road Shop between 5 August and 22 September http://heals.co.uk/ this is a fantastic opportunity for the young people to learn new skills, take part in a movement which champions great craftsmanship and leading design and sell their finished products in an iconic store. What a confidence booster! I can’t wait to see the products in store and support this collaboration. I wish all those taking part the best of luck! More of this please retail land!
